When I got back into REALLY using makeup and REALLY trying to have proper skin care, I realized how overwhelming it can be for a newbie. To educate myself, I turned to beauty related channels on YouTube. It was eye-opening to see how much you can learn and the number of beauty focused YouTube channels there are. For today’s edition of Friday Favorites, I thought I would share with you my ten favorite YouTube channels for makeup and beauty and why I love watching these particular channels’ videos so much.
And please know that I subscribe to many more channels than just the ten particular ones listed below. These are just my ten CURRENT favorites (and I actually originally planned on doing just a top five list, but realized it was not possible to limit my choices that much…there are just too many good ones to share).
My Ten Favorite YouTube Channels for Makeup and Beauty
in alphabetical (not preferential) order!
I recently discovered this channel when thinking about how I wanted to put together a 10 Pan Project for myself this spring. Oh my gosh, this girl is hilarious! I love watching her 10 Pan Project updates the most, but have been loving all of her videos. She recently completed a 25 Pan Project! That’s dedication, my friends. Here is her finale video and intro into her next project:
This was one of the very first YouTube Beauty Channels that I fell in love with. I love CoffeeBreakwithDani’s fun, life-loving nature. Her tutorials (when I first started watching YouTube) made me feel like I COULD actually apply my makeup in the same way, but she also does looks that help push me out of my comfort (neutral palette) zone. Plus, whenever my husband finds me watching YouTube now he asks, “Are you watching welcome to mah-face?” Here is a recent video where she did a fun, colorful look using the Too Faced Peanut Butter and Jelly palette:
This was also one of the first YouTube beauty channels I started watching. I love these two! I found them when I was trying to figure out which beauty subscription boxes I wanted to try. They do a Birchbox vs Ipsy series (that they just brought back, thank goodness!) but I also love their haul videos. Here is their most recent Birchbox vs Ipsy video:
I seem to ALWAYS learn something when I watch one of emilynoel83’s videos. Her reviews and tutorials are always so extremely helpful and thorough. She recently started a top/bottom five series which I am already finding helpful and I am looking forward to seeing which brand she goes through next. Watch her Top 5 Bottom 5 CoverGirl Products video:
If you have ever watched any amount of beauty videos on YouTube, you have more than likely seen one of Jaclyn Hill’s videos. She has been creating YouTube videos for quite some time and I think a lot of folks would dub her the YouTube Beauty Guru Queen…and rightfully so. She is very talented and provides high quality content. Whenever she posts one of her monthly favorites videos, my bank account decreases substantially as I highly value her opinion on products. Here are her current beauty favorites:
Jessica Braun | JAMbeauty89
I feel like I relate the most to Jessica Braun out of all of the beauty channels I subscribe to, and it is probably why I like her videos and channel so much. She is just so down-to-earth and the makeup she uses, her application methods, and her practicality in not “hoarding” really resonate with me. And I feel she keeps it real, which is really important to me while considering what products a YouTube channel is promoting. Her decluttering always inspires me to keep my “collection” simple. Here is one of her more recent decluttering videos – this one, in particular, really made me take a closer look at the makeup I currently have and consider it, use it, keep it, and toss it before heading to the store for more!
I feel like just as with Jaclyn Hill, if you have ever watched any amount of beauty videos, you have probably seen one by KathleenLights. Her videos are so fun to watch. Plus, she keeps it real with how ‘spensive some makeup can be. She is always sharing products that are cost-effective and WORK, so I really like that about her videos. I actually subscribed to BoxyCharm because of her! Here is her most recent BoxyCharm unboxing:
Tati – the original Beauty Guru (in my mind, I guess). Her videos are so stinkin’ educational, sometimes it is hard for me to believe she can so consistently put out DAILY quality content. I especially love her “Hot or Not” series where she reviews a product and lets us know if it is a must-buy or a must-pass-on-by. Her Tip Tuesday videos are also always a good watch. Here is a high-end makeup dupes video she recently did that I found very helpful (especially in the “please help me save my money” category):
I seriously crack up everytime I watch one of WhatWouldLizzyDo’s videos. She has the best one-liners…I don’t even know how she has room to store all the good movie and song quotes she can just come up with out of thin air! But, aside from being a fun channel to watch, she does do really informative reviews in what she calls “Woop or Womp” videos. Here’s her most recent Woop or Womp video:
Young Wild and Polished
I found Young Wild and Polished while searching for tutorials and information on taking care of my nails and nail polish application recommendations. But YWP has all types of beauty related videos (along with having fabulous nails) and she is also a really fun, hilarious channel to watch. You MUST make sure to watch the bloopers she posts at the end of each video….I just die laughing when I do! But, speaking of her perfect nails, here is a good look at how she does her own nail art:
I hope you have found this post helpful and maybe even discovered a beauty YouTube channel that has now become one of your favorites! But, I am always searching for new channels to watch, so:
Tell me in the comments section below, what is your favorite beauty YouTube channel to watch?
