Neon Heat Nail Polish || Orly Baked Summer 2014 Collection {swatch and review}

by

Eeek, my first post!  As I begin to type, I realize I have no readers and that I am writing this for myself {at this point}.  And, I am okay with that!  I love blogging and sharing, so even if nobody reads this post {ever}, I will keep blogging on.  Given that this post is all mine to read right now, I figured what better way to start things off than to swatch and review one of my new favorites, Orly Neon Heat nail polish.

Orly Neon Heat Nail Polish Swatch and Review || Simple Nails and Beauty

But first, let me emphasize that this is a post on {and you are reading} SIMPLE Nails and Beauty.  My swatches are not going to be like the ones you see on all of the big nail blogs {i.e. looking like they came straight out of a nail magazine}.  I am a simple girl.  I do a simple manicure and then simply run outside to my back porch to take these simple pictures.  I hope you enjoy this simple take on swatching nail polish!

My Thoughts on Orly Neon Heat Nail Polish

Neon Heat is one of Orly’s new shades as a part of their Baked Summer 2014 collection.  When I saw that Sally Beauty Supply was running a buy one, get one free sale on Orly polishes this month, I ran out to snag a couple of these new shades from this collection.  I am not a HUGE neon fan, but I wanted to step out of my polish comfort zone and since I am a big fan of any pink polish, I knew this would be a good add to my {very quickly} growing collection.

Although the shade is bright, and definitely a good summer hue, it is not a screamingly bright neon pink.  And that is what I love the most about it!  I am an {almost} 30 year old lady and although my nails are definitely eye catching with this polish on, they are not screaming “tweenager” like I had worried with painting on a neon polish.

Formula and Application

Orly nail polish is 5-Free (Formaldehyde, Toluene, DBP, Formaldehyde Resin and Camphor). Orly polishes come with the fan fave rubberized cap. That signature easy-to-grip topper makes it easy to control the polish. The brush is long and thin with flexible bristles.

Neon Heat is a cool toned fuschia bright pink with blue undertones.  For me, it was fully opaque with two coats.  One thing I did notice right away while applying was that the polish dried with an almost satin matte finish.  It wasn’t quite matte and it wasn’t glossy.  For a second, I thought about leaving it matte {and using my Orly Matte Finish Top Coat}, but I am also trying to learn to love the Seche Vite top coat {which gives a glossy finish} so I chose to go glossy with the color.

Long Lasting Test

I have been wearing my manicure with Neon Heat for three days without adding any extra top coat protection during this time.  I used Nail Tek Foundation No. 1 as my base coat and Seche Vite as my top coat.  I see only one finger that has a noticeable chip on it!  I may have worn this mani for one more day {before feeling like the chips were taking away from the look of my nails and I should be reapplying polish}, but I am going to a Brewers game tomorrow, so I will be painting my nails with O.P.I.’s 7th Inning Strrretch polish tonight!

Enjoy the photos…

So what shade did I get for free at Sally’s with the Buy One, Get One promotion this month?  Orly’s Saturated is up next for swatching and review!

    I love the color !!! and I love Orly polishes but I’m only able to get them online (super expensive) or when someone of my family brings them to me from the States 🙁
    I’m hoping they get here to Spain soon 😛
    Love your article by the way 🙂

    I recently put myself on a nail polish ban but this colour is gorgeous! If I still see if around next month I think it might come home with me!
