Awhile back, I received a sample of Acure Organic’s Facial Cleanser in my Birchbox – and I fell in love, HARD. If you read my Simple Steps to Starting a Skin Care Routine post, you would have learned how this cleanser has become one of my ultimate favorites. Acure Organics was nice enough to send me a few samples of some of their other products to try out. One of them was their Oil Control Moisturizer. For someone who deals with (what I feel is) extreme oily skin, I am always a little skeptical of anything that claims to control oil. Usually they do not work for me, but I never give up hope that there is a “miracle” product out there, so I am always up to try something new.
Acure Organics Oil Control Moisturizer Review
In summary, I am super pleased with how the Acure Organics Oil Control Facial Moisturizer worked for me and my oily, acne-prone skin!
I am currently a stay-at-home mom to a six month old baby, so most days I do not wear a full face of makeup. If I can get my face washed, toned, and moisturizer applied, I am a happy camper. I knew this moisturizer was doing a really good job when after about a week of using it, I remember catching a glimpse of myself in the bathroom mirror late in the day and thinking, “Wow, my face doesn’t look oily at all – in fact, it looks like I am wearing foundation.”
So, not only did this moisturizer seem to control my oil, it was also doing a good job at evening out my skin tone and just giving it an overall healthy glow.
This Oil Control Moisturizer claims to improve texture and tone, minimize fine lines, and help prevent breakouts with the inclusion of Lilac stem cells to balance your skin’s oil. I agree with the texture and tone claim – it certainly did that for me! I don’t have too many fine lines, so I didn’t see anything noticeable in that arena. And although I did not have a completely breakout free face while using this moisturizer, I did see a noticeable decrease (I do not think there is any product out there that can combat my breakouts when it is “that time of the month”).
The moisturizer is a typical white cream and while I did find that it absorbed quickly, my skin was still left feeling healthy and moisturized and not greasy at all. It has a refreshing citrusy aroma – not very strong, though, it is a subtle scent (and I can tell the scent comes from the ingredients, naturally, and is not a synthetic fragrance).
I used this moisturizer both as my day and night cream and felt it did a good job providing enough moisture to my skin even though this is considered a light-weight moisturizer. I like that I can use one product rather than having multiple options on my vanity.
The bottle is a squeeze tube option which I also appreciate (and it comes sealed). No dipping my fingers into a pot and risking bacteria growth throughout the product!
Another bonus is that this product is vegan, gluten and cruelty free, paraben, sulfate, silicone, phthalate and synthetic fragrance free.
I would definitely recommend the Acure Organics Oil Control Facial Moisturizer and I will be purchasing more for myself in the future!
As I mentioned above, Acure Organics did send me this product (and a few others) to try out – I purchased the cleansing gel and exfoliating scrub out of my own pocket, though (I really do love them). So, watch for additional thoughts and opinions on some of the other Acure Organics products soon. If you would like a specific Acure product reviewed, let me know in the comments below!
