Mall of America Beauty Haul + Reviews || M·A·C, The Body Shop, Lush, and Sabon

by

I am fortunate to live fairly close to the Mall of America (just a couple hour drive) and my family lives only an hour from the shopping mecca. I try to get to MOA as often as I can! Recently my husband’s company had a multi-day conference in the Twin Cities and I was allowed to attend and stay with him which gave me the perfect opportunity to shop ’til I dropped for a spa-inspired Mall of America beauty haul. The conference center was just mere blocks from MOA, so while he was in sessions, I spent my time browsing all the fabulous beauty stores Mall of America has to offer. I ended up spoiling myself a bit at M·A·C, The Body Shop, Lush, and Sabon.

M·A·C

I do not know why, but I always feel intimidated walking into a M·A·C store. However, a very nice young lady made me feel right at home. She helped me pick out the Fleur Power blush. My first ever M·A·C blush and I’ve got to say I feel like I’ve been missing out; this blush is fabulous! It gives me just a subtle hint of color on my cheeks (just what I was looking for) making it really easy to apply.

The Body Shop

I could spend days in the Body Shop. I went there specifically to get restocked on my Satsuma scented products (my absolute, all-time favorite scent at The Body Shop) but I also decided I wanted to give the Warming Mineral Mask a try. I have yet to try it out, but when I tested it on the back of my hand, it was pretty flippin’ amazing.

Lush

If you are a beauty lover, you cannot pass up the opportunity to stop in at Lush and pick up a couple of bath bombs. I also spotted a popcorn lip scrub. Although I really enjoyed the “flavor”, I think I got a bad or old batch as it was literally just a pot of packed-in sugar. I remember trying out the tester in the store (not of the same scent, though) and it was not this consistency. The tub I had didn’t have any sort of oil or moisture present. I ended up tossing it out after struggling to use it a few times.

Sabon

The Sabon boutique is where I spent most of my time on my day-trip to Mall of America. I had never been inside and when I walked in, I was rushed over to a sink in the middle of the store where I was shown how to apply a hand treatment. I couldn’t believe how soft and luxurious my hands felt after. Plus, the products just make you feel fancy while you use them.

I picked up a Creamy Scrub in Carrot, Shower Oil in Lavender Apple, a Body Scrub in Lavender Apple, a Travel Kit (so that I could try out a couple of the different lotion options), and a Body Butter in Mango Kiwi.

The Shower Oil is AMAZING! I only hesitate with it because it is a glass bottle, but I am willing to risk shattered glass in my shower for this product.

The only product I am not totally in love with is the Body Butter, but it has everything to do with the packaging. It is basically just formed into a styrofoam mold that only holds shut with the ribbon tied around it (not very luxurious compared to the other products’ packaging) and it is really cumbersome to scoop out since it is a bit hard and meant to emulsify with the warmth of your hands.

The creamy body scrub and regular body scrub are just as fantastic as they sound (and yes, the carrot scent rocks…it is not weird at all).

I am planning a trip to the Mall of America again soon. I think next time I need to hit up the Sigma store. I wanted to go in, but I ran out of time – do you know how big The Mall of America is?!?!

I do feel fortunate to live “close” enough to get there every so often, but if I lived any closer, it would be a problem!

It can be a little overwhelming to shop there if you don’t have somewhat of a plan – or you end up only getting around the first floor because it took you all day!

Gee, your shopping trip to MOA brings back memories. A long time ago, I used to go to Minneapolis fairly often on business. One time in winter, although it was a bright sunny day, the temperature was below zero, and they cancelled my outbound flight so I was stuck in suburban Minneapolis for another night. My hotel had a shuttle that ran to MOA, and I went over for several hours. I wasn’t a beauty blogger then, so I didn’t hit up all the great beauty-oriented stores unfortunately but I definitely had fun. Sabon is a nice store with a very lovely product line. There was one on Newbury St. in Boston, but I think it closed a year or so ago.
