Exuviance Gentle Cleansing Creme – My New Favorite Eye Makeup Remover

Exuviance Gentle Cleansing Creme Review

Even though I have oily skin, if I just think about skipping my skin care routine for half a day, my skin ends up dehydrated. I know, it seemed weird to me too – but a few different skin care professionals have made the point to me that you can have very dehydrated skin, yet still be an oily slick by the end of the day. And I happen to fall into this category (without proper skin care). So although I typically lean towards cleansers meant to help combat oil and breakouts, I have been searching for a cleanser that provides hydration AND helps control my oil.

As I have yet to find that perfect cleansing combo, I was really excited when I chosen by Exuviance via the Brandbacker blogger program to give the Exuviance Gentle Cleansing Creme a try. It is a soap-free formula that is meant to gently dissolve away makeup and impurities while lightly hydrating and soothing the skin. Also, Exuviance skin care products include a patented blend of Polyhydroxy Acid and botanicals meant to help smooth skin texture and even skin tone.

My Thoughts after using the Exuviance Gentle Cleansing Creme

The Exuviance Gentle Cleansing Creme is a white creme product with an AMAZING scent (at least in my mind). If you have ever used Matrix Biolage hair products, that is what it smells like. I was in heaven as soon as it hit my face – I love the scent!

Since the product is soap-free, it doesn’t get sudsy on the face and although it is a creme product, it felt more like I was washing my face with a gel.

In the end, although my skin felt super hydrated and soft after use, this particular face wash did not provide me with enough oil control to warrant using it as my regular daily face wash.

HOWEVER, I found the most spectacular use for it.

On the back of the bottle it states, “Perfect as a makeup remover.” Let me tell you, this bottle does not lie.

The Exuviance Gentle Cleansing Creme has officially become my (stubborn) eye makeup remover. I put a little dollop on a cotton round, smoosh it together with another cotton round, then apply both of these to my eyes. I let the product sit for a few seconds (to begin breaking down the makeup) and then I begin to (gently) rub in circular motions.

Unlike with other makeup removers I have tried in the past (and I have tried everything from oil based removers, to micellar waters, to other cream products), I was able to really get into my makeup and rub most of it away, GENTLY, and WITHOUT causing irritation to my eyes.

Also, a lot of times I have found that my eyes will get really dry and irritated in the corners after a few days of vigorous eye makeup removal. I have not experienced that one bit using the Exuviance Gentle Cleansing Creme after consecutive days of use.

Oh, and I have also found that it is the PERFECT cleanser right before applying a treatment face mask. Just like my regular cleansers, I tend to lean towards face masks that are meant to treat my oily skin and really exfoliate when it is all said and done. I feel that by using the Exuviance Gentle Cleansing Creme first, ensuring my face isn’t full of junk before applying the face mask, I am allowing the face mask to work it’s magic on a really healthy, hydrated base.

Good for you for finding a different way to use the cleanser even though it didn’t work as a cleanser! I love multi use products like that.

Jen, I just received this product for review and used it last night. I love it, but it said to “avoid contact with eyes” so I specifically didn’t use it to remove my eye makeup. Maybe I’ll give it a go on my sensitive eyes, hmmmm.

You are right, it does say that. I guess I am a risk taker 🙂 It is working wonderfully for me using it as an eye makeup remover. I wear contacts and I would consider my eyes sensitive. But, I guess with that little blurb on the packaging, you should use it this way at your own risk!

I’ve been using it as an eye makeup remover & it’s great. Thanks for the tip, Jen!

I love cleansers that remove eye makeup! That’s my number one need in a cleanser, I hate when I wash my face and then have to use a separate remover!

I never tried this product but I am looking for a cleansing creme right now and this review of yours can surely help me a lot to decide if this is what I am really looking for or not. Yes, I make sure to read reviews and feedback first before buying any products because I am able to get good recommendations from it if it’s a good product or not. Thanks for giving me an idea.
