drugstore beauty bargain picks of the week {week of 7/27/2014}

Beauty Bargains of the Week || This week features CoverGirl products and Simple Brand Facial Cleansers || Get Coupons and Details at SimpleNailsandBeauty.com

As the name of my blog {Simple Nails and Beauty} implies, I am a simple girl when it comes to makeup and other beauty products.  I do not need the fanciest product nor am I even capable of creating a masterpiece on my face.  I just want to look and feel pretty in the simplest way possible.  Drugstore beauty products are some of my go to, everyday makeup options!

I do, however, find it a load of fun to try new products, new brands, and step out of my comfort zone every once in a while when purchasing a new lip gloss or eye shadow {if I didn’t experiment every so often, I would end up with a million different nude colors and that would be it}.  I like to think that I have an unlimited beauty budget to try all of the different colors and options my heart desires, but my husband tells me otherwise.  So, to quench my beauty purchasing thirst, I use coupons and watch for great deals at my local drugstores {and trust me, I keep my couponing simple as well….I am no extreme couponer, just a savvy saver}.

Of course, I thought I would share my findings with you so that you can also save a bit of money {and time since the legwork in finding the coupons and bargains is done for you}.

My Top Beauty Bargain Picks for this Week

This week I plan to hit up the CoverGirl section at Walgreens!  They have a new collection called “Instaglam” by Katy Perry.  Right before I left on my trip, I bought one of the Colorlicious lip glosses from this new collection and it is the only lip product I wore the entire trip.  I loved it!  Once on your lips, the color is subtle {which I preferred} but it was also very creamy feeling upon application and didn’t get sticky as it wore.  So, I plan on getting a couple more colors in this lip gloss and seeing what else this new collection offers.

I will also be purchasing my holy grail face wipes – the Simple brand oil balancing facial cleansing wipes.  I use these every morning to cleanse my face, always right before I apply makeup, and anytime during the day if I feel like I have been sweating or my face is oily {and I did not leave the house so I do not have any makeup on, or if I do not need to reapply makeup, or if I have the time to apply new makeup at that point in the day}.  I SIMPLY love them!

The Beauty Bargain Details

This week at Walgreens, Covergirl products are buy 1, get one 50% off.  PLUS, if you spend a combined $20 or more on certain P&G products {such as CoverGirl, Dawn, Tide, Herbal Essences, or Charmin}, you get 5,000 Balance Rewards points which equals $5 off on your next purchase.  PLUS, through August 30th, you get 50 Balance Rewards points for every dollar you spend on beauty and personal care products.

The best part?  You earn those balance rewards points BEFORE manufacturer’s coupons {you need $20 worth of products to earn the 5,000 rewards point bonus BEFORE you factor in the manufacturers coupons you may have}.

Simple Brand products are also buy one, get one 50% off PLUS when you buy two Simple products, you get a 2,000 balance reward bonus.  PLUS, these products also count towards earning 50 Balance Rewards points on every dollar that you spend on beauty and personal care through the end of August.

Available Coupons for the Deals

If you get the Sunday paper, this week’s P&G insert {the P&G insert arrives monthly and I am referring to the insert for August where the coupons expire 8/31} had two CoverGirl coupons.  One for $1.00 off any one CoverGirl product and another coupon that gives you $3.00 off any two CoverGirl products.  I love when coupons allow you to shop from the entire line and not have to buy a specific product!

If you do not get the Sunday paper, do not fret!  There are also some online coupons that you can print out.  Clicking the following links will add that specific coupon to your “print basket”, so you do not need to search for them.  Remember, you can print each coupon two times from each computer that you may have!

$2.00 off one CoverGirl outlast lip product

$2.00 off any Simple Cleanser or Moisturizer

And, if you have a smart phone, make sure to download the Walgreen’s App.  From this app, you can “clip” coupons that are automatically applied at checkout when you use your Balance Rewards card.  If you do not have a smart phone, no worries, these in-store coupons are also available in the store {the coupon books are right up front when you walk in, usually next to wherever the store keeps the weekly ads}.

Just keep in mind that these are not manufacturer coupons, they are Walgreen’s in-store coupons and therefore do count against your total purchase {for example, you would need to purchase $20 worth of products AFTER the discount from these in-store coupons but BEFORE any manufacturer’s coupons are applied in order to get the 5,000 rewards bonus this week}.

The Walgreen App is currently showing the following in-store coupons available:

  • $3.00 off any two CoverGirl products
  • $2.00 off any one Simple Moisturizer or Cleanser {excludes trial and travel sizes}

Don’t forget that at Walgreen’s you can use BOTH an in-store coupon AND a manufacturer’s coupon on each purchase.  For example, if you were to purchase two CoverGirl products this week, you can use both the manufacturer’s coupon from the P&G insert AND the Walgreen’s in-store coupon for a total of a $6 discount.

Here is another tip regarding the Walgreen’s in-store coupons specifically – you just have to “clip” and present one of the coupons to have it apply to all eligible purchases.  For example, if you were to purchase four CoverGirl products this week, the in-store coupon would actually apply twice, automatically for you, for a total savings of $6!

If you are a loyal CoverGirl user, or you just want to try out some of their products, this is certainly the week to head to Walgreen’s to get your hands on some!  And if you haven’t tried the Simple brand cleansing face wipes, they are a must!
